Have you ever seen a painting that looked “too good to be true?” You wonder how an artist could create a piece so realistic? I know I have!
That style of painting is called realism. Realism is realistic or life-like art. Mastering shading is the hardest technique. Making sure everything has it’s proper shadow areas and highlights, while maintaining the colours intended. I‘m slowly learning this skill. Picking up techniques and turning avant-garde pieces into pragmatic artistry. Resting on the Window Sill (painting seen below) is one of my first successful attempts at realism.
